Vendor Interview - This very large and beautifully appointed split-level family home enjoys a superb position at the end of a quiet, no-through road on the edge of Coventry city centre. I have to say that there wasnt just one thing in particular that attracted us to this house when we came across it twenty-six years ago, it was the whole package, says the owner. Its a deceptively spacious home with a lovely big garden and the surroundings are just so lovely. The property is tucked away at the end of Fairlands Park, so its peaceful and very private, but you can hop on your bikes and be in the city centre in next to no time. For us its been absolutely ideal.
The house was originally built in 1972 so when we came here its fair to say it was in need of a bit of work. Over time Id say weve done just about everything to it, with the exception of any major structural work, and its now absolutely lovely throughout. At one end of the house we have four good-size bedrooms one of which is en suite and a family bathroom, and at the other end we have a lovely big lounge, a formal dining room and a large kitchen-and-breakfast room. The house is split level, so on the lower floor at the back of the property weve created a very well proportioned self-contained flat as well as a huge games room. From the outside the property looks like a normal bungalow, only when you get inside do you realise just how spacious it is.
The garden wraps right the way around the house and so it too is incredibly spacious, continues the owner. We have a very pretty front garden, a large vegetable patch and a few fruit trees to one side and to the back its mainly laid to lawn and edged with a very mature border of pretty shrubs and a tall conifer hedge that affords us a wonderful feeling of privacy. Its a feature of the property that weve really enjoyed over the years and something that well definitely miss.
Favourite Room: The large kitchen-and-breakfast room is the part of the house that we tend to gravitate to the most, says the owner. It has an Aga that keeps the space cosy and warm, we eat in there, watch TV and theres space enough for a couple of easy chairs, so its also a lovely place for sitting and relaxing.
Favourite aspect of the grounds or surrounding area: Living here we feel that weve been able to enjoy the best of both worlds, says the owner. Were a stones throw from the city centre; places such as Kenilworth and Leamington are within easy reach; the transport links are extremely good and were also within striking distance of mile upon mile of open countryside. In my opinion its absolutely perfect.
Memorable event (if not another favourite room or unique feature): This is a house that in my opinion has an awful lot to offer, says the owner. As well as the main accommodation we have the self-contained flat, the games room, which is very flexible in terms of its use, and we also have a large garage and work room.
What theyll miss most / why they are leaving: We have decided to move to London to be closer to our children, so the space we have here, both inside and out, is definitely going to be something well miss, says the owner. And now that we have committed to moving Im beginning to fully appreciate our surroundings. To be able to wake up to the view of lush green trees and the sound of nothing but the dawn chorus has been wonderful.
